Stumptown Coffee Roasters flagship location opened in 1999 on SE 45th and Division in Portland, Oregon. Duane Sorenson bravely emptied out his savings account and set up the small roastery and café with attention to a superior quality of coffee and sustainable producing on 4 continents. His coffee shops became a big part of Portland's rise as a coffee destination over the last decade. In 2015, highly regarded Peet's Coffee & Tea's acquired the shops and carries on his vision. But it appears we'll see Duane back in his new Portland coffee adventure in late 2017.
My painting was inspired on a Saturday morning stroll by their SE 33rd and Belmont Street location and laughed when I saw this dog waiting outside for its owners to finish their cup of Hair Bender. A perfect Portland neighborhood moment captured.
